Stealth celebrates its 14th anniversary

Greetings and salutations!
It’s hard to believe that it was 14 years ago this month that we first opened our doors here at Stealth. In the fall of 1990, the company was originally positioned to service the automation and control marketplace, as that’s where our expertise was. But something happened along the way.

In our past lives we spent numerous years visiting small and large manufacturing facilities across North America tweaking industrial control systems. Those experiences provided us with some key insights to where the market was headed. Back in 1990 it was evident that the growing popularity of the PC along with the release of Windows 3.0 addressed a demand for PC based solutions to be deployed on the plant floor. No longer did a customer need to spend a small fortune on distributed control systems.

As these new PC based control systems started up it quickly became apparent that PCs built for office environments could not survive the daily battle zone conditions of a typical shop floor. Instead of creating efficiencies, PCs were grinding some production lines to a halt because of persistent failures. What was desperately needed, we reasoned, was a durable and impermeable computing system capable of surviving the rigors of the shop floor.

Fast forward 14 years
It’s been a long road since those early days of the Z80 microprocessor and CPM operating systems. Our product offerings have evolved considerably over the years from our early Industrial grade PCs, to our latest NEMA rated rugged LCDs, fault tolerant servers and our powerful LittlePC products. We have been privileged to help thousands of people and companies around the world with applications we could never of predicted. Our products have been deployed into geological expeditions, MRI machines, control towers, power plants, navigation systems, biotechnology research, television studios and yes, even control systems.

Our industrial grade NEMA 4X LCD flat panel displays are designed to protect against corrosion, windblown dust and rain, splashing water, hose-directed water, and external icing found in severe environments. Stealth has over a decade of experience designing and building rugged LCDs for industry.

Touch screen is an optional feature, which provides a touch sensitive area that eliminates the requirement for additional keyboards or pointing devices. Touch screens are available in three technologies, resistive, capacitive and surface-acoustic wave (SAW).
