New Product Announcement - 17" HIGH BRIGHT LCD
sunlight readable displays for outdoor or high ambient light conditions

Stealth has introduced their new 17” high brightness, sunlight readable LCD monitor. The StealthVU high brightness monitors are designed to operate in extreme ambient light conditions. Conventional LCD’s cannot perform in direct and indirect sunlight conditions as they become washed out making them useless for displaying critical information. The 17” diagonal sized monitor has a brightness rating of 1300 Nits, which is roughly 4 to 5 times the brightness of a commercially available desktop monitor.

Stealth’s sunlight readable LCD’s are ideal for outside use in marine/mobile, interactive kiosks or display advertising applications. Various touch screen configurations are available. StealthVU monitors are “Plug & Play” compatible with no drivers to load. Stealth has developed a wide range of products to fit your exact application needs. NEMA 4 /4X Stainless Steel, Panel / Rack mount and Open Frame configurations are available.

FAQ: What is the BIOS?

Pronounced "bye-ose," BIOS is an acronym for basic input/output system.

The BIOS is responsible for booting the computer by providing a basic set of instructions. It contains all the code required to perform the tasks that need to be done at start-up time. It also provides an interface to the underlying hardware for the operating system in the form of a library of interrupt handlers. For instance, each time a key is pressed, the CPU performs an interrupt to read that key. This is similar for other input/output devices (Serial, USB, video, sound, hard disk controllers, etc.).

BIOS is sometimes referred to as the ROM BIOS because it was originally stored in a Read-Only Memory (ROM) chip on the motherboard. Most modern PCs today employ a flash BIOS which means that the BIOS has been recorded on a rewriteable memory chip, usually an EPROM which can be updated if necessary. This ensures that the BIOS will always be available and will not be damaged by disk or other hardware failures.

The BIOS is the first program to run when you turn on your computer. It performs the following functions:

  • Initializing and testing the hardware in your computer (a process called POST, for Power On Self Test)
  • Loading and running your operating system
  • Managing the setup function for making changes in your computer
