I think complexity is mostly sort of crummy stuff that is there because it's too expensive to change the interface.

Welcome to the WARRIOR eVIEW from Stealth Computer Corporation, featuring our latest product information and successful application stories on Industrial PC’s and Peripherals.

New Product:

Stealths FlatRack LCD monitor with built-in KVM feature
Control up to 8 PC’s from 1 LCD Monitor with Stealth's new FR-1000-KVM

Stealth’s FlatRack LCD Monitors fold down to 1U or 1.75” in storage height giving back 18 to 24” of vertical space in your rack cabinet. With rack real estate being at a premium this equates to a substantial cost savings allowing this additional space to be used for other systems.

The new FR-1000-KVM, 15” FlatRack LCD now features an 8 Port KVM switch built-in to the same space saving packaging. KVM stands for Keyboard, Video, and Mouse. In the strictest definition of the term, a KVM switch allows you to use one Keyboard, Monitor, and Mouse to operate several computers.

Stealth’s Model: FR-1000-KVM allows up to 8 independent servers/platforms to be controlled through the device. Operation is as simple as pressing integrated membrane push buttons, entering hotkey command and navigating through the user-friendly on-screen menu. The FlatRack KVM switch is independent of the computer operating system allowing the attached systems to run different applications.

Features:

  • Operating system independent, transparent to all applications
  • Supports PS/2 & Serial Mouse connections
  • Hot-key functions allow fast access to 8 computers
  • 15” XGA LCD foldable display down to 1U in height
  • Built-in 88-Key, keyboard with glide-point mouse
  • Program the name of each port through on-screen menu
  • Auto-scan selects connected computers sequentially
  • Standard 19” Rackmount configuration (1U)

LittlePC takes a spin on a Whirly Bird
LittlePC deployed on a helicopter for a high-resolution terrain mapping application

Mosaic Mapping Systems needed a small and mobile PC that could perform a multitude of duties to meet their demanding application. The LittlePC was to be mounted in a Helicopter as part of a high-resolution digital terrain mapping application.

Mosaic Mapping’s latest LiDAR system uses a Stealth model LPC-301 LittlePC to control all the sensors, log laser ranges, record digital camera images and GPS/Inertial data, and as well communicate with the custom 3-D navigation system. Data is logged onto the LittlePC’s internal hard drive as well as to an external hard drive connected to the firewire port. This external drive is easily removed for off site processing of the stored data. In addition the LittlePC USB ports are used to control various devices including a USB to Serial converter.

What is LiDAR?
LiDAR (light detection and ranging) systems use an airborne mounted laser that pulses light at a rotating mirror, which in turn deflects the light towards the ground. The ground reflects some of the energy from each pulse of light back towards the helicopter, and the time that the light was traveling to the ground and back is measured. From this “time of flight” comes the distance from the helicopter to the ground, and by combining the laser sensor with a GPS/Inertial Navigation System it is possible to calculate the latitude, longitude and elevation of each “hit” on the ground.
The laser generates thousands of pulses per second, and the rotation of the mirror as the helicopter moves forward makes for a pattern of laser hits, so that a swath of ground under the helicopter is covered by measurements. Typically each square meter of terrain yields as least one measurement. The vertical accuracy is about 15 cm.

Mosaic Mapping Systems, Inc. is a publicly traded company (TSX-V symbol DEM) providing high-resolution terrain mapping and digital imagery. The company specializes in the integration of airborne data acquisition technologies, combining multi-sensor data collection in a single flight with the development of sophisticated end-user tools for data integration and 3-D visualization.

Stealth in the Core
Stealth makes a cameo appearance in the new blockbuster "The Core".

Paramount Pictures has recently released their latest flick “The Core”. The film boasts the talented academy award winning Hilary Swank (Boys Don't Cry) directed by the diversely seasoned Jon Amiel.

When Paramount pictures called upon Stealth they were looking for rugged and unique looking input devices (keyboards and mice) that would survive in rough and tough conditions. Their immediate choice was the 5000 series Stainless Steel encapsulated rugged keyboards that would make the journey to the core of the earth.

Plot Summary: A geophysicist discovers that an unknown force has caused the earth's inner core to stop rotating. With the planet's magnetic field rapidly deteriorating, our atmosphere literally starts to come apart at the seams with catastrophic consequences. To resolve the crisis, a team of the world's most gifted scientists, travel into the earth's core in a subterranean craft piloted by "terranauts," Their mission: detonate a device that will reactivate the core.

WHAT IS A “U” or more specifically a “RACK UNIT”?
As in 1U, 2U, 4U … etc

A "Rack Unit" or "U" is an Electronic Industries Alliance or more commonly “EIA” standard measuring unit for rack mount type equipment. This term has become more prevalent in recent times due to the proliferation of rack mount products showing up in a wide range of commercial, industrial and military markets. A "Rack Unit" is equal to 1.75" in height. To calculate the internal useable space of a rack enclosure you would simply multiply the total amount of Rack Units by 1.75". For example, a 44U rack enclosure would have 77" of internal usable space (44 x 1.75).

Stealth manufactures computers and peripherals that are designed to fit into a standard EIA size rack enclosures. Stealth’s Rackmount PC’s, LCD Monitors and Keyboards are available in many sizes and configurations. The slim space saving series rack products are available in 1U (1.75”) and 2U (3.5”) in overall height. Since rack space is at a premium these slim products represent significant cost savings to the end user. Standard rackmount products are available in 1U, 2U, 4U, 5U and 6U configurations.
